Solomon Lewis Comes Home: McNeese Lands Lake Charles Native via Transfer
Via/ LA Tech
For Solomon Lewis, the journey has finally come full circle.
The Lake Charles native and former Lake Charles College Prep standout has officially committed to and joined McNeese State University, transferring after stops at Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State University. Now, Lewis returns home to represent the program he grew up watching, bringing experience, maturity, and local pride to the Cowboys’ roster.
Lewis began his collegiate career at Louisiana Tech, where he developed as a wide receiver and contributor on special teams. During his time with the Bulldogs, he showed flashes of playmaking ability, using his speed and versatility to impact games both in the receiving corps and in the return game. In 2024, he posted 16 catches for 220 yards and three touchdowns and was a consistent contributor in the Bulldogs’ passing game, including a pair of scoring performances against Middle Tennessee and UTEP.
Following his time in Ruston, Lewis transferred to Nicholls, continuing his career within the state of Louisiana. That move kept him close to home and allowed him to compete in the Southland Conference while refining his game and embracing a larger role. In 2025, he produced 18 catches for 106 yards.
Now at McNeese, Lewis represents more than just a roster addition. He is a hometown product returning to invest in his community’s program. A former high school star in Lake Charles, Lewis built his reputation on explosiveness, football IQ, and toughness, traits that align with McNeese’s tradition of physical, hard-nosed football.
For the Cowboys, Lewis adds experienced depth to the wide receiver room and brings a player who understands the culture of southwest Louisiana football. His path through multiple programs has given him perspective and resilience, qualities that often translate into leadership both on and off the field. And while I see him being a excelent addition to the passing game, his kick return abilities are second to none and could end up earning national attention if put in the correct position on the field.
He has high-level speed, Great technique, followed by experience. McNeese got an FBS steal for a FCS team.
As McNeese continues to build toward sustained success, Solomon Lewis’s return home stands as a reminder of the talent produced in the area and the power of coming back to represent where it all started.
